Here’s the thing — the best graduation photos aren’t the ones where everything is perfect. They’re the ones where something in the frame is unmistakably, specifically you.

So before we talk logistics, think: what defined these last few years? That’s where we start.

The cap & gown — obviously

Bring it. Steam it the night before (wrinkles show up way more on camera than IRL). And plan for some shots with it off too — just you, relaxed, hair out. Those are usually the ones people love most.

Props that tell your story

Think about what actually defined these years — then bring that. Here are some ideas to get you thinking.

Flowers & bouquets

A classic for a reason. Go for something with texture and movement — loose, garden-style blooms photograph way better than tight, stiff arrangements. Pick colors that work with your outfit.

Champagne

Nothing says “we’re celebrating” like a bottle of bubbly. Great for toasting shots, popping shots, or just holding while you look like you own the world.

Confetti & balloons

If you want photos that feel like a party, these deliver. Confetti cannons are especially fun — the mid-burst shot is always a favorite. Balloons add color and a playful energy without much effort.

Something personal to you

Your instrument. Your jersey. A sketchbook with actual wear on it. Your diploma. A piece of jewelry that means something. Whatever it is — if it’s part of your story, it belongs in the frame.

📷 Insert photo: personal prop detail shot

Outfits (optional, but fun)

Your cap and gown is the main event — no extra outfits needed. But if you have a longer session and want to mix it up, bringing one or two changes can give your gallery a totally different feel. Think: something polished for the formal shots, something relaxed that’s just you.

📷 Insert photo: outfit flat lay or between-looks candid

Quick checklist before you head out

  • Cap & gown (steamed!)
  • Extra outfit (s) if you want variety
  • Shoes you can walk in
  • Touch-up kit
  • Your prop (s)
  • Water and a snack — seriously
